Mark Raymond | RGC Board

 

Mark Raymond (Trinidad and Tobago/UK - RIBA, FTTIA, PhD) is an architect and educator and currently the Director of the Graduate School of Architecture (GSA) at the University of Johannesburg. He is a graduate of London’s Architectural Association School of Architecture (AA) and RMIT’s Barcelona-based invitational practice-based PhD. 

Mark has extensive international experience in architectural practice, education and research. After graduating from the AA he worked in Europe for practices including Conran, Norman Foster, Ulrike Brandi and DEGW before returning to Port of Spain, Trinidad, where he assisted Colin Laird with the design of the National Library whilst establishing his own practice. His work embraced a wide range of architectural and urban design/planning commissions throughout the Caribbean, combined with writing, teaching, lecturing and design research internationally. He is committed to the effective engagement of architecture and design - through practice, education and research - in processes of transformation and social justice.
