Phumi Mtetwa | RGC Board

Phumi Mtetwa is an activist dedicated to understanding the multiple systems of oppression and exclusion, and to organise with movements for the full liberation of the peoples! She began her political life back in 1985, organising rent boycotts to combat apartheid; went on to join the students movement, then LGBTI rights campaigning. She was part of a group of activists that worked to enshrine the rights to equality, dignity and freedom for all in the South African Constitution. She has served in global movement leadership roles and now forms part of the Just Associates (JASS) leadership team supporting feminist movement building and a member of the Global Black Victory Lab - an initiative aiming to build solidarity and unity of Black people across the world by forging deep relationships founded on love and justice.
